A controversial extreme-eating YouTuber had a meltdown after his former collaborators accused him of manipulative behavior (2024)

Nicholas Perry, also known as Nikocado Avocado, rose to prominence on YouTube for his mukbang content (videos in which the host eats food while communicating with an audience, popularized in South Korea). Between his three channels, Nikocado Avocado, Nikocado Avocado 2, and Nikocado Avocado 3, the 27-year-old has racked up two million subscribers in under four years.

More recently, however, the vlogger has been receiving attention online for his continuous drama with fellow YouTubers Stephanie Soo and Zach Choi — drama that's upending the mukbang community.

The three vloggers filmed a collaboration video, posted to Perry's channel in December 2019, titled "10 Packs Spicy Fire Noodle Challenge With Zach Choi And Stephanie Soo." In the seemingly innocuous clip, Perry, Soo, and Choi joked with each other while consuming a massive quantity of spicy noodles.

Four days after Perry posted the collaboration, Soo posted a video titled "Why I Am Scared Of Nikocado Avocado," in which she described feeling unsafe with Perry in the past and while filming the collaboration. In the 47-minute video, the YouTuber told her two million subscribers that Perry had sent her harassing texts and pressured her to bad-mouth YouTuber Veronica Wang (with whom she has a complicated personal history) during their video. Despite her attempts to change the subject, she said, Perry continued to ask leading questions and press her on the subject.

"He didn't care what I wanted to talk about. He didn't care how I felt," she said.

She added that she caught Perry taking multiple photos inside her home when she briefly left the room and included a clip from her home security cameras in which she appears to be crying to her partner after the interaction.

Outraged fans flocked to the comments section of the video, which has received over 9 million views.

"He pushed her to talk about personal issues and agitated her mental health. His mindset disgusts me," one commenter wrote.

"He's a massive narcissist and was gaslighting you the whole time," another commented.

The following day, Choi tweeteda response to Soo's video, saying he had little knowledge of the situation between Perry and Soo. "I cannot speak for any of the other creators involved," he wrote.

Perry responded to Soo's accusation with a video of his own, titled "re: Stephanie Soo." In the 96-minute video, the YouTube star disputed Soo's claims about his behavior in her home and revealed text messages between the two that, he argued, contradicted her story about Veronica Wang.

The video, which has received over 3 million views, includes screenshots of Perry's text messages with Choi suggesting that the YouTube community would support Perry.

Perry's claims did little to convince viewers, and the clip was bombarded with thousands of negative comments.

"When you tryna ruin someone's career and end up ruining yours," one commenter wrote.

"You are such a horrible, toxic person. You deserve none of the success you've had," another said.

In a series of back and forth videos, Soo, Perry, and Choi have continued to spar online. On January 1, Soo posted another video titled "How Nikocado Manipulated All Of Us," to refute claims from Perry's response video.

Choi said in an Instagram story that he had hired legal representation. "For those of you waiting for a response to @nikocadoavocado continued harassment, I have retained an attorney and he will be handling these matters going forward," he wrote.

Perry told Insider in an email that Choi had not taken legal action against him.

Nikocado Avocado appears to be having a meltdown amid the drama.

While fans and YouTubers are scrambling to keep up, Perry says his life has been ruined by online drama. The YouTuber uploaded 7 videos in 5 days across his channels, chronicling his reaction to the influx of negative comments and attacks from other YouTubers.

In a video titled "We Broke Up," Perry blamed Internet trolls and YouTube drama for the demise of his relationship with husband Orlin Home.

"All of your comments over the last month are seeping into his head and he is questioning us as a couple," he said through tears. "And it's all because of YouTube."

In since-deleted clip from his secondary channel, Perry sobs while discussing his breakup, before recovering enough to film a Taco Bell video.

In the wake of Perry's disturbing videos, viewers are increasingly concerned by the continued escalation of the feud.

"This isn't even funny or entertaining anymore," one commenter wrote. "This is just disturbing and weird."
