In 1955 Huff's West Virginia senior year, Huff tried to tackle Jim Brown, who was Syracuse's star running back, head on. The collision was heard throughout the stadium as Brown knocked him out cold and out of the game, breaking his nose and some teeth and plowed through the rest of the defense for a 62 yard touchdown. Starters aren't playing. Felton will get RB reps and JOK will get good reps. Will be mostly players fighting for roster spots and a bunch of future practice squad folks. Hudson will get much needed reps...he got dominated last week. Newsome & Greedy will battle it out for #2 CB spot.

Thanx SD. As an ole phart here I was lucky to see these two great players Brown and Huff play, two true Gladiators of the football arena. That 1955 atomic hit on Huff left him with a permanent messed up bent nose and scar plus a few uneven teeth in his mouth.

Watching for what DE & DT will step up.
-Billings got push around last week but improved in joint practices.
    - Sheldon Day balled out last week and emerging over the handful of rookies...all of whom need to step up
-Joe Jackson stood out last week and has opportunity to increase his stock with Porter injury.
    - Weaver's play didn't match hype from training camp...need to see him bring it.
    - All signs point to Taak returning by season opener but we need more than him. DL was a liability when Myles took a breather last year. Need at least a strong #4 DE so we can rotate without getting taken advantage of

-LeCounte is another player to watch. Needs lots of reps for NFL experience...Woods likes to play 3 safeties and Delpit is out again.
-Hance has a chance to prove versatility at Center today with Mann. Joe Thomas mentioned how important it us to train for these type of injury situations since OL folks get inserted to a different position at a moment's notice during season.

-Kicker has been a problem since Dawson left. Parkey has been no frills but at least made xtra pts consistently last season & was overall solid in playoffs.

But can we count on him to make a long distance FG with game on the line?

Looking better at practice after a rough start to camp. He should win the job and McLaughlin will likely be kept around on practice squad. Competition is good.

Sam Huff did nail Jim Brown a few times as a Giant ...but with help of #77 monster Dick Modzelewski. Jim Brown admitted that he was so dizzy from the hit he barely made it back to the huddle.

I thought Billings looked terrible on that first series; plays high with no push. That first run was in his gap.
